The Fountain of Youth Pours Curiosity and Wonder

Asking questions and finding answers builds neuro pathways in the brain.  Stay curious to keep your brain functioning properly.

The Force Curve

By |April 12th, 2019|dementia, Health, Meditation, mental health alternatives, Mind/Body, mindfulness, rowing meditation, self awareness|

The Force Curve shows us how well we are connecting with the machine.  If Force is being properly distributed through the stroke, we will see a smooth, symetrical curve.  This helps us move faster and FLOW.  If the curve is asymmetrical, we are creating unnecessary tension that slows us down and PREVENTS flow.

Transcendental Rowing

By |April 12th, 2019|dementia, Health, Meditation, mental health alternatives, Mind/Body, mindfulness, rowing meditation, self awareness|

HealHop Rowing is a physical practice with a corresponding philosophy.  Kinda like Yoga.  There are casual HealHoppers seeing a relaxing workout experience and then there are the dedicated HealHoppers seeking much more.

Staying Level

By |February 24th, 2019|dementia, Health, Meditation, mental health alternatives, Mind/Body, mindfulness, rowing meditation, self awareness|

These screenshots show energy outputs from two different clients. Notice how one is more steady and level while the other is inconsistent and jagged.  One is in the FLOW while the other is struggling to reach it.  Once it is reached, the body will move more fluidly and the breath will synchronize with its movements. —– Now take this same concept out of the studio and into life.  If we could measure our thoughts and emotions they should resemble screen A.  Controlled, steady and level….living life in the flow.  If our thoughts and emotions resemble screen B, we are less present and our energy is misused.

Endorphins

By |February 24th, 2019|dementia, Health, Meditation, mental health alternatives, Mind/Body, mindfulness, rowing meditation, self awareness|

When we exert ourselves during exercise or listen deeply to music, ENDORPHINS give us a natural high and new perspective.  This form of euphoria is healthy for our mind, body and spirit!

Listen Deeply…

By |February 24th, 2019|dementia, Health, Meditation, mental health alternatives, Mind/Body, mindfulness, rowing meditation, self awareness|

Music is a SUPPLEMENT for mental health.  It is important to listen deeply for positive, lasting effects on mood, emotions and thought patterns.

Row Away the Nonsense!

By |February 24th, 2019|dementia, Health, Meditation, mental health alternatives, Mind/Body, mindfulness, rowing meditation, self awareness|

Use the hour in the studio to escape the demands and anxiety of life. We consider music, movement and breathwork “natural medicine.”  I encourage clients to use these techniques outside of the studio whenever life becomes difficult or overwhelming.

The first step…

By |December 7th, 2018|dementia, Health, Meditation, mental health alternatives, Mind/Body, mindfulness, rowing meditation, self awareness|

The most difficult part of getting into shape is starting the process.  Don’t be intimidated by a 30 minute row.  Those starting a new fitness journey are free to rest whenever they are tired.  The more classes you attend, the less rest you will need.

Simple Reflections

By |December 7th, 2018|dementia, Health, Meditation, mental health alternatives, Mind/Body, mindfulness, rowing meditation, self awareness|

Do you have a favorite color? What is it? Why do you like it?

Start with simple reflections.  As you practice they will become more complex.

HealHop Can Be Customized

By |December 7th, 2018|dementia, Health, Meditation, mental health alternatives, Mind/Body, mindfulness, rowing meditation, self awareness|

HealHop works best when it is personalized for each client.  Some people come in for the physical benefits, others for the mental.  An athlete in training will have a different class than someone expanding their meditation practices.  For new clients I recommend a consultation before starting the program.  Together we can design a plan to help you reach your goals.

Examine This Model

Lets say the little men represent your negative emotions. The angry you, the anxious you, the resentful you, the sad you, the stubborn you, etc. Direct them to the center by discovering the opportunity for growth that each one provides. Once they reach the center, they turn neutral or positive. This will be the intention of you meditation. The calmer the mind, the easier they are to direct.

HealHop teaches many techniques and methods such as this one to get your emotions under control.  Once you meditate on and understand these concepts, you can practice them on your own.

HealHop Vs Dementia

By |July 24th, 2018|dementia, Health, Meditation, Mind/Body|

Did you know the number affected by Dementia is at an all time high and it is no longer limited to the elderly?  While the cause is still unclear, research shows how exercise and mediation can slow down and even reverse the onset of these diseases.  Due to the cognitive impairment of those affected, it is up to their loved ones to recognize symptoms and seek treatment options.  If you know someone who is showing signs of a cognitive disease, HealHop might present a great opportunity to address the problem. They will gain a better understand of how the mind works and why the impairment is taking place.  For clients who are not able to row for the entirety of the class, they are welcome […]

Brian is the real deal

Brian is the real deal. He listened and created an entire class to fit my specific needs- building on the traditional sweat foundation of a typical workout while introducing a new spiritual dimension that you can’t put a price on. His studio is a gift I feel so lucky to have found and want the world to experience as well! I am picky af and promise you will leave better than when you entered.

Brian is awesome! Challenging class, but in the best way. Definitely will be back. I am out of shape and was nervous but Brian is great and accommodated to anything I wanted to do or was too tired to do, he had alternative options! Amazing!

Brian is awesome!

I highly recommend!

I have been going to HealHop for almost a year now and I highly recommend! I have developed a real love for the meditative nature and physical challenge that rowing provides. Brian is a great teacher and is knowledgeable in many fitness areas. Each class can be much more than just rowing. My workout mix has included Qigong, ski and bike machines, and boxing. Always a heavy emphasis on stretching pre and post workout! Brian also tracks your progress so you can see how far you’ve come.

— Taylor

I highly recommend!

Brian brings a unique take on fitness that keeps you engaged

If six stars was an option, I would select that without hesitation. Been going to HealHop classes for the past couple of years and never once had a bad workout. Brian brings a unique take on fitness that keeps you engaged and always keeps it interesting. Each and every time I finish a class with Brian I feel focused, energized, and better than before.
