Sensation of Energy

The body communicates through sensation. The calmer the mind the easier to feel.
The Fundamental Breakdown
Healing sounds calm the mind while hip hop rhythms energize the body. The objective is to have the body fluid and mind still, simultaneously. Once the rower is flowing, visualization and body scanning exercises are added in. To body scan is to direct our attention to different parts of the body. This gets us “out of our head” which can be a cause of stress and anxiety and allows us hear what our bodies are whispering. To visualize is to see those different points in action. Imagining muscles contracting, the joints rotating or hinging, the lungs expanding, the heart beating, and so on gets us in touch with ourselves on a deeper level. Mudras
We hold tension in our hands. Mudras release this tension and allow energy to flow freely through our fingers. This is a pleasant sensation.
Body Scanning and Sensing
Body Scanning is one way HealHop raises Body Awareness. With eah stroke slowly move your attention from the crown of your head to the tips of your toes. If you attention wanders, just bring it back!
Foundation
The lower back and hips make up the foundation of our entire body. Rowing repetitively hinges the spine front to back, strengthening and increasing mobility in the area. Strong Foundation = Strong Structure.
Panoramic Views
Panoramic Views help us see the bigger picture. Right pace. Right direction. Keep it balanced. Keep it level!
3 Centers
We activate our body by moving, our mind by thinking and our heart by feeling. How can we work on all three centers simultaneously? What happens when we do?
Movement Mantra
Mantras are simple sounds repeated over and over and over to assist in concentration or meditation. Rowing is a Movement Mantra. This repetitive motion can help even the most out of shape bodies move in a fluid, rhythmic fashion!

Love this class! Brian is super knowledgeable and really helps you channel your mind body connection. It’s low impact but will definitely get you sweating. The space is super clean and the greeting committee Rocky is ready for all the pets!

He listened and created an entire class to fit my specific needs- building on the traditional sweat foundation of a typical workout while introducing a new spiritual dimension that you can’t put a price on. I have been going to HealHop for almost a year now and I highly recommend! I have developed a real love for the meditative nature and physical challenge that rowing provides. Brian is a great teacher and is knowledgeable in many fitness areas. Each class can be much more than just rowing. My workout mix has included Qigong, ski and bike machines, and boxing. Always a heavy emphasis on stretching pre and post workout! Brian also tracks your progress so you can see how far you’ve come.
